“Thanks, but no thanks.”
We are now several months into the New Year, and I believe that this year will be the best one yet for you and your family- until next year! I know what you’re thinking: “but how can you say that?”, “you don’t know what’s going on.” Sometimes I think we should realize THAT THERE IS MORE GOING ON THAN WHAT YOU SEE. God’s perspective is this- every day of your life should be better than the day before. We should have the same perspective! Now that we are on this subject, I want to share Logan’s story with you. Logan decided in January of 2020 to go to McAlister’s Deli for a sweet tea. What he didn’t expect was to have a divine encounter with our youth Pastor from the church. Pastor Andy said he felt really impressed to go and have a conversation with Logan. He invited Logan to church, told him he would pick him up, or do whatever he needed to get him there. So, Logan showed up to church a couple of weeks later, and Pastor Andy asked if Logan could sit with us and the guys during service. We had small talk before church, and he told us that he struggled with drugs. I asked him if he needed any help and he said “thanks, but no thanks”.
At that point, he became our house prayer project. On March 1, 2020, he showed up at church again. This time he was in a little different way. He was dressed in hospital scrubs and really looked bad. We invited him to go to Lester’s House with the guys after church to eat lunch and talk to him later in the day. This was the beginning of his day getting better than it was the day before. We should never underestimate divine connections. When we met him later in the day to talk and find out how we could help him, he told us that he had been in the hospital. Right before he was released, he heard on the inside “go to World Outreach Church and meet up with Leon and Audrey”.
The hospital nursing staff gave him scrubs to wear and an UBER ride to church. He was in a bad place mentally, spiritually, and from an addiction standpoint- life had beat him down. Audrey says, “If we hadn’t invited him into Lester’s House that day, life would have ended for him”. I would agree. Sometimes when you talk with someone you don’t always know everything. A month into the program, he told us that for years he was hearing voices and they seemed to get louder. We told him they will end. He started to put time into his Bible and read, but he wasn’t getting an understanding of what he was reading. I know none of you have ever been there.
Two months later, when we were in the upper room (Lester’s House prayer room), he had an encounter with God. Everything changed. Everything became new. His day just got better than the previous day. We have had the privilege of watching a young man’s life get better each day. Here are just a couple of examples of what that looks like: He has had his relationship with his mother and brothers restored after 10 years, he was looking at prison time for drug and weapon charges in Missouri, but because he fulfilled his commitment with Rivers Edge Recovery, his sentence was reduced to fines. He believes that with us he has found family. He knows that we absolutely love him and will do whatever is necessary to see him succeed. His love for the word of God is incredible. He is always studying and reading. His love for Jesus is inspiring. He brings with him a confidence that only comes from spending time with Jesus. You see, he is an example of every day being better than the previous day.
He is an example of Luke 1:37 Amp “For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment”. God is no respecter of persons; what he has done in Logan’s life he will do in your loved one’s life. Just don’t give up, don’t give up the fight. Don’t let your confidence be shaken. Trust God, Trust Jesus, Trust the Holy Spirit, and above all trust in your prayer life. God hears you voice.
If you wonder about that then look steadfast at 1 John 5:14-15. If the weight has been too much reach out, send us a text message at the number below. I have men that are looking for prayer projects. I
I want to remind you that all of this is because of you. I don’t know if you grasp the part you play, or the impact that you make. Your prayers and generosity for us and this ministry produce results!
